Atlanta Tutors LLC was founded in 2006 by Nathan and Hope Vigil. Over the past eleven years, Nathan and Hope recruited other accomplished educators to join our tutoring company, and today our management team has more than 50 years of combined teaching experience.

Hope Vigil, Director

After growing up in Atlanta, Hope Vigil graduated summa cum laude from Georgia Tech where she studied Russian, Spanish, Italian, and German and received her bachelor’s degree in International Affairs. After mentoring students at UC Berkeley, she went on to earn a master’s degree in Education from California State University, Fullerton and to teach English for several years in California. After moving back to Georgia, she taught English at Georgia State University and Georgia Christian University and then worked as an Academic Advisor at UGA.

Nathan Vigil, Director

Nathan Vigil received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and his PhD from Emory University. Dr. Vigil has published with Cambridge University Press and Routledge Press, given academic presentations at Oxford University and to the American Historical Association, and received scholarships from Princeton University and the US Department of Education. In addition to running Atlanta Tutors, Dr. Vigil teaches college Writing and History courses. In recent years, he has taught at Georgia Tech, Emory, and the University of Georgia. He has received numerous teaching honors.

 

Alyson Richardson, Client Relations, Community Outreach

Alyson Richardson earned her bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Virginia Tech and her TESOL certification to teach English as a Second Language from Kennesaw State. After 16 years of corporate experience with companies large and small, she transitioned her career to her life’s passion, education. With 11 years of combined Montessori (Infant through Middle School) experience and adult ESL classroom and tutoring experience, as well as her first-hand experience at being a Mom, Alyson is passionate about helping parents find solutions to their children’s challenges and believes in the potential of every child to succeed. Alyson lives in Atlanta with her husband and daughter. Her daughter attends Oak Grove Elementary.

Emily Brown, Child Development & Special Education

Emily received her Bachelor’s degree in Child & Family Development from Georgia Southern University and her M. Ed. in Multiple & Severe Disabilities in Early Childhood from Georgia State University. She also has Basic & Advanced ABA Certificates from Florida Institute of Technology. While in school, she received Georgia Association of Young Children’s Student of the Year Award as well as the Cynthia Cynthia Kuhlman Award for academic excellence and leadership. She has worked with children from birth to middle school through being a childcare employee, teacher, inclusion specialist, administrator and research assistant. Emily currently lives in West Midtown, Atlanta, with her husband, young daughter, and dog. Her daughter attends Grow Montessori School.

Philip Bradley, Systems Development

Philip Bradley grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Tucker High School. He attended Georgia Tech, where he was a President’s Scholar and graduated with a degree in Computer Science. Philip has a long history of mentoring Georgia young people, including ten years as a counselor and advisor to students at Georgia Tech and UGA. Philip lives in Decatur with his wife and three children.
